Chapter 10: Watching TV

Just as Qiao Sang was smiling foolishly, her phone vibrated. It was a message from Fang Sisi.

Qiao Sang's expression sobered as she opened the message. She realized that her desk mate had sent her eight or nine messages since yesterday.

【Why didn't you come to class today?】

【I just heard that the teacher called your mom to school yesterday. Is that true!!!】

【Did your mom find out you got zero in the test?】

【Why aren't you responding to me?】

【Are you there?】

【Why didn't you come to class today either!】

【Your mom came to school again. Is everything okay?】

The last message had just been sent.

【Did you evaporate from this world?】

Qiao Sang typed a response on her phone.

【Still alive.】

She quickly received a reply.

【Wow, you're still alive.】

【You haven't been at school these past couple of days. Do you know how angry the teacher has been?】

Qiao Sang pondered for a moment.

【It's summer now. Are you sure it’s not just the heat?】

...

They chatted for a few more messages, and Qiao Sang told Fang Sisi the reason for her absence.

Fang Sisi didn't believe a word.

It wasn't that she looked down on Qiao Sang, but self-awakening was something that only happened to people with exceptional talents. Generally, it happened to the top students in the school, and even the few who didn't excel in academics stood out in other areas.

As for Qiao Sang, her grades were worse than Fang Sisi's; she couldn't possibly be a self-awakened individual.

Qiao Sang didn't argue; she just sent a picture of the proof of her self-awakening.

There was no response from the other side.

After about fifteen minutes, Fang Sisi finally replied.

Qiao Sang lowered her head to read the message, her lips twitching.

【If you become rich and prosperous, don't forget your friends.】

...

...

Qiao Sang hadn't forgotten about the Fat Family Dove. She went to the kitchen cupboard, took out the food meant for the Fat Family Dove, and placed it in front of it. Afterward, she realized she had forgotten about herself.

She quickly made a bowl of scrambled eggs with rice to satisfy her hunger. By then, it was already 2:07 in the afternoon.

Probably due to all the morning commotion, the Fire Tooth Dog was curled up on the sofa, sleeping soundly.

Qiao Sang didn't disturb it.

Originally, she had planned to take her proof and visit the Beast Tamer Center again in the afternoon. However, seeing the Fire Tooth Dog sleeping so peacefully, she changed her mind.

Qiao Sang walked quietly to her room and picked up the ninth-grade textbook on "Analysis of Superordinary Beasts," leaning back against the bed to read.

Just now, when she was checking the Beast Manual and information about self-awakening individuals on her phone, she realized that the high school entrance exam wasn't as simple as her previous desk mate had described.

The high school entrance exam tested the knowledge on paper, and after awakening through electromagnetic waves, an additional brain domain development score would be added. Developing 1% was worth 20 points, and 2% was worth 40 points.

Considering a perfect score of 650, this extra percentage wasn't that significant.

The Ministry of Education did indeed value self-awakened individuals, releasing a series of policies for recruiting them every year. However, not a single policy mentioned that one could enter the Beast High School by getting zero in the high school entrance exam.

Although she could enter a vocational high school, Qiao Sang wasn't interested in that.

Self-awakened individuals could enter Beast High School through either direct recommendation or special admission.

For direct recommendation, apart from the assigned quota, the student's middle school grades were also taken into account. The student's school would send the relevant data to the Beast High School for qualification review.

With Qiao Sang's rank of consistently being third from the bottom in her class, even if she was a self-awakened individual, the school wouldn't have the face to recommend her.

That left the option of special admission.

Each year, all 108 Beast High Schools in Hanggang City would issue special admission policies. Each person could apply for two schools' special admissions, and once the application was approved, the person could participate in the corresponding exam.

Those who passed the special admission exam still needed to take the high school entrance exam.

To enter Beast Taming High School, they needed to achieve a specified score in the high school entrance exam.

Although each Beast Taming High School had a different required score, one thing was the same – the high school entrance exam.

Qiao Sang felt somewhat helpless; in the end, she still had to take the high school entrance exam.

...

...

As the sun set, the living room echoed with the barks of the Fire Tooth Dog.

Qiao Sang put down her book and walked out of her room.

"tooth!"

"tooth!"

The Fire Tooth Dog leaped into Qiao Sang's arms.

Qiao Sang stroked the dog's head, her heart melting.

She had chosen the Fire Tooth Dog mainly based on its appearance. She didn't expect it to be so well-behaved. This was probably fate.

The two of them sat on the sofa and turned on the TV.

The Fat Family Dove, with its large size, settled on the floor.

The Fire Tooth Dog had never seen something so fascinating before; its eyes were filled with excitement.

If Qiao Sang wasn't holding it in her arms, it might have already run to the TV and glued itself to the screen.

The TV was currently broadcasting the weather forecast.

A well-dressed woman with a standard Mandarin accent was speaking, "According to the celestial phenomenon, tomorrow in Pantai City, it will be sunny with some clouds, and the temperature will range from 30°C to 36°C. It is recommended to wear..."

The Fire Tooth Dog's eyes widened. Why was there a person inside?

Qiao Sang switched to another channel.

In the Beast society, to attract viewers, Beast Tamers and Superordinary Beasts were the right formula for success. The major TV stations clearly understood this, as almost every channel was broadcasting news related to Beast Tamers.

"Mr. Wang Dianao, is your relationship with Ms. Luo Tang true?" The reporter's microphone was almost hitting the young man's face.

"It's true," the young man admitted openly.

"As both of you are participating in the upcoming competition in the Yuhua region, if you happen to compete against each other, will you hold back?" another reporter asked.

"I won't. Luo Tang is an excellent Beastmaster. If I were to compete against her, I wouldn't have a hundred percent certainty of winning," the young man replied with a smile.

"Mr. Wang, about your Armor-Tread Tusk Bear..."

Qiao Sang changed the channel again. The scene switched, and a sapphire-horned rhino appeared on the screen.

Its eyes were fierce, its powerful hind legs continuously kicked the ground, and arcs of purple lightning covered its body, making buzzing sounds, as if it was about to burst out of the TV at any moment.

The Fire Tooth Dog's body stiffened, and its fur slowly stood on end.

"Even under the Dragon Twister of the Black Wind Wolf, the Sapphire-Horned Rhino endured! It didn't back down! It looks like it's about to launch a powerful move. I wonder what Xu Zhou, the contestant, will do next!" the commentator exclaimed excitedly.

This was a replay. Every year, various regions held various competitions. The channel Qiao Sang was currently watching specialized in broadcasting Beastmaster competitions in Hanggang City.

The camera switched to the all-black Black Wind Wolf.

A sinister light gleamed in the Blue Flame Leopard's blue eyes. Its body was covered in blood, and it panted heavily from its nose. Due to its black fur, its wounds weren't very visible. Only the small droplets of blood on the ground revealed that it was injured.

The Fire Tooth Dog relaxed.

"After using the Dragon Twister, the Black Wind Wolf's stamina has clearly declined..."

Before the commentator could finish, the camera returned to the Sapphire-Horned Rhino.

Its body was covered in more and more arcs of purple lightning. When the arcs covered about two meters around its body, it finally charged out.

"Bang!"

The TV emitted a loud explosion sound and then went black...

The air seemed to freeze.

Qiao Sang mechanically looked at the Fire Tooth Dog, her gaze vacant. She opened her mouth as if to say something but didn't utter a word.

"tooth!" The Fire Tooth Dog turned its head and nestled in Qiao Sang's arms.

That massive creature from the TV had frightened it!
