Chapter 7: The Desert-Tailed Fox

"Do you need something?" Qiao Sang had to stop and ask.

"If you hadn't wasted so much time, I wouldn't have come here for nothing today," the girl complained.

Qiao Sang furrowed her eyebrows slightly and said, "I remember you didn't show up when they called your number."

The girl became more spirited. "If you hadn't gone up so quickly, I would have been the last to get my task done. Do you know that if you had just sat there for two more seconds, I could have gone before you?"

Qiao Sang was somewhat speechless.

Is this kid's brain alright?

Qiao Sang decided to just walk past her and leave. Even though she's 15 years old now, inside she's an adult. The girl in front of her was wearing a high school uniform, but she still looked like a child in Qiao Sang's eyes.

Is it even worth arguing with such a brat?

But before she could take more than two steps, the girl hurriedly walked up to Qiao Sang and blocked her way again. She interrogated, "Where are you going?"

Qiao Sang looked at her and calmly said, "You want to fight?"

If a physical confrontation can solve the problem, then don't waste time talking.

Arguing with a brat like this doesn't make much sense; however, giving her a good beating might be meaningful.

"What?" This time, it was the girl who was bewildered.

"You want to fight or not? If you do, let's go outside. If not, move aside," Qiao Sang said with a slight upward tilt of her phoenix eyes. While she usually appeared gentle and amiable, her unsmiling gaze could still be quite intimidating.

The girl was left dumbfounded for a few seconds. She glanced at Qiao Sang's school uniform, then at the Fire Tooth Dog and the Fat Family Dove by her side. She gritted her teeth and said, "Let's fight then!"

The two of them arrived at an open space behind the Hanggang Beast Training Center. The training area wasn't too big or too small, with scattered people practicing with their companion beasts.

Qiao Sang looked around and was a bit surprised. She asked, "Isn't this place inappropriate? Shouldn't we find a more secluded spot?"

The girl finished listening and smirked, "What? Are you scared?"

Qiao Sang raised an eyebrow slightly. "Aren't you just worried about losing face? Since you want to fight here, here is fine."

"Let's do it then!" With a step to the side, the girl prepared herself for combat.

Seeing that the girl had taken her stance, Qiao Sang set her Fire Tooth Dog aside.

Seeing this, the girl raised her hands, but before she could even form her hand seals, a leg came sweeping towards her face. Reflexively, she crouched down and covered her head as she fell to the ground.

A gust of wind passed above her.

"What are you doing!" Xu Linglan exclaimed, sweat breaking out on her forehead.

Quickly getting back on her feet, she retreated two steps, a look of fear still in her eyes. She couldn't believe that a younger girl in front of her had just kicked her, and aimed for her head no less! The force of that kick could've given her a concussion!

Too brutal!

Qiao Sang looked innocently at her. "Didn't you want to fight?"

Who the hell said anything about fighting like that?

Xu Linglan was utterly speechless. She felt like Qiao Sang did that on purpose, but she had no proof.

"Beast Tamers settle their disputes using their companion beasts. Have you ever seen a Beast Tamer fight by physically attacking themselves?" Xu Linglan shouted at Qiao Sang.

Qiao Sang was momentarily stunned, then spoke, "I'm not a Beast Tamer."

"..."

Indeed, she had heard that just now.

But that's just an official recognition. You've already contracted companion beasts; if you say you're not, then you're not?

Xu Linglan didn't bother wasting more words. She quickly formed her hand seals, and a white star formation suddenly lit up on the ground. A white figure appeared within the formation.

Seeing her own companion beast, Xu Linglan felt more at ease. "I'm a Beast Tamer. Naturally, I'll fight using a Beast Tamer's methods. Are you too afraid to fight me using your companion beast?"

The girl across from her was obviously a novice Beast Tamer. The Fat Family Dove couldn't possibly be hers, given that it was a mid-level companion beast. As for the not fully developed Fire Tooth Dog, that could be her contracted companion.

Her White Sands Fox had evolved into a Desert-Tailed Fox yesterday.

So, what could this person use to fight against her?

The Desert-Tailed Fox was an evolved form of the White Sands Fox. Its nature was extremely gentle. Unlike its appearance during the White Sands phase, the Desert-Tailed Fox had a tail that was over 2 meters long after evolution, five times the length of its body, and it was the source of its strength.

Qiao Sang looked at the white supernatural creature with amber pupils before her. Information about it automatically surfaced in her mind; after all, she had just researched about it yesterday.

The Desert-Tailed Fox before her was a mid-level companion beast. On the other hand, the Fire Tooth Dog was just born less than a month ago, and Qiao Sang herself had recently contracted it.

She wouldn't be able to win.

Qiao Sang had already reached a conclusion in her mind.

Since there was such a disparity in strength, she wouldn't let the Fire Tooth Dog get beaten up without retaliating.

"Fat Family Dove, it's your turn," Qiao Sang turned her head to the quiet and passive Fat Family Dove by her side and said.

"Jiu."

The Fat Family Dove flapped its wings without refusing. It walked to a spot in front of the Desert-Tailed Fox.

Xu Linglan mocked, "Isn't this dove yours?"

Qiao Sang nodded without arguing.

"Well then, Fat Family Dove it is. But I'm still going to win," Xu Linglan didn't stop her.

The dynamic between controlling someone else's companion beast and controlling one you've raised from the beginning was fundamentally different. Despite both being mid-level companion beasts, Xu Linglan didn't think she would lose.

"Desert-Tailed Fox, Flowing Sands!" Xu Linglan decided to take the initiative and commanded directly.

"Desert."

The Desert-Tailed Fox lifted its head and let out a call. Its tail, over 2 meters long, swayed a bit, gradually emitting a sandy-colored radiance.

"Fat Family Dove, take flight," Qiao Sang remained composed.

Just as the Fat Family Dove spread its wings to take flight, a streak of red shot across the area and collided directly with the Desert-Tailed Fox, interrupting the release of its Flowing Sands ability.

The Fat Family Dove forgot to take flight, and its big, round head was filled with question marks.

Isn't it the one supposed to fight?

It's the Fire Tooth Dog, Qiao Sang stared at the red figure in front of her and was momentarily stunned.

"tooth!"

"tooth tooth!"

The Fire Tooth Dog barked at Qiao Sang unhappily.

Qiao Sang could clearly sense the dog's frustration and even a hint of grievance.

The Fire Tooth Dog was extremely displeased! Wasn't it her contracted companion? Why was she letting someone else fight!

Qiao Sang picked up on the Fire Tooth Dog's sentiment, her throat feeling slightly dry as she was about to say something.

"Dirty trick! You actually launched a surprise attack! And it's 2 against 1!" Xu Linglan was so furious that she directly shouted.

Although her White Sands Fox had evolved into the Desert-Tailed Fox, her mental realm had only reached about 7%, still far from the second awakening in the Beast Tamer's Manual. So, she couldn't contract a second companion beast yet.

The Desert-Tailed Fox was a mid-level companion beast, but the Fat Family Dove was also mid-level and specialized in flying, which naturally had an advantage against the Desert-Tailed Fox.

Then there was the Fire Tooth Dog. It was a junior companion beast, but it was of the fire element and had strong attack power. If it turned into a 2 against 1 situation, she would definitely be at a disadvantage!

Xu Linglan gritted her teeth and glared at the younger girl in front of her.

This person wasn't just fierce but also underhanded!

Qiao Sang stood still for two seconds, then suddenly felt like a lightbulb had gone off in her mind.

2 against 1?

How did she not think of that earlier?

This is a fight, not a competition. Winning is what matters, and there are no set rules.

Besides, the Fire Tooth Dog wanted to fight anyway. This would be a good chance for her to assess its capabilities and confirm her thoughts.

Qiao Sang looked at the sulking figure before her and smiled. "Fire Tooth Dog, come over here."
