THD Chapter 21

The Eldest Young Master Ye paused, not because of what Ye Xiqing had said, but because of her attitude.

Over the years, the image of a younger sister in his mind had become synonymous with the obedient and well-behaved Ye Xueli. He had never imagined that someone would dare speak to him in such a manner, especially not the younger sister he had only recently brought home.

The Eldest Young Master Ye was almost laughing from anger. His resentment toward this younger sister grew even stronger.

Because of that aversion, the first thing he noticed was her provocative posture. Only afterward did he process her words.

And once he understood what she had actually said, his anger intensified even further.

Because, truthfully, the second matter was what had angered him from the beginning.

The housekeeper was a clever man.

He knew that if he wanted the young master's help, he first had to ensure that the young master would care enough to intervene. So he embellished the story, changing the reason for his dismissal from being punished by Father Ye into a tale of defending the young master's territory, offending the young lady, and consequently angering Father Ye.

Whether Ye Xiqing and Ye Xueli fought over status, favor, or rooms was expected.

But involving him was another matter entirely.

It was not that he cared about a room like Ye Xueli did. He simply disliked being offended.

As the eldest son of the Ye family and the man who had begun handling company affairs at a young age, he had long learned to conceal his true motives behind righteous causes and attack others under the banner of justice.

He could already imagine how miserable this ignorant, arrogant, and brainless younger sister would become under his skilled manipulation.

Because of that confidence, he became far more tolerant of Ye Xiqing's provocation.

With a sneer, he said, "Butler Wang has worked for this family for ten years. He has always been loyal and conscientious. What right do you have to fire him?"

Ye Xiqing ignored him completely.

She slowly descended the stairs and sat beside her mother as though it were the most natural thing in the world.

The servant standing nearby immediately replaced the bowl and plate in front of her with new ones. After all, Ye Xueli had been sitting there earlier, and he was not sure whether the young lady would mind.

Ye Xiqing accepted the attentive service without the slightest hesitation.

Calmly, she said, "Isn't his disrespect toward me reason enough?"

Then she added through a separate channel, "Besides, what relationship do you have with him? Why are you so anxious about him getting into trouble?"

The first sentence was spoken aloud.

The second was transmitted through the strange communication channel.

Mother Ye, Father Ye, and Ye San, who already knew about her ability, immediately became attentive.

However, the Eldest Young Master Ye and the Second Young Master Ye had never encountered anything like this before. Since Ye Xiqing's back was facing them, they could not see that her lips had not moved. Naturally, they assumed she had spoken both sentences aloud.

The Eldest Young Master Ye was surprised that she had also attempted to seize the moral high ground.

He could not help sneering.

"You ask what our relationship is?"

"Fine, I'll tell you."

"Butler Wang has worked in this family longer than you have."

"He has contributed more to this family than you have since the day you returned."

"Don't think that just because you're a daughter of the Ye family, you can do whatever you want."

"In the hearts of many people in this family, he is more important than you."

The eighteen years she had spent away from her wealthy family should have been the greatest wound in her life.

Once a person lost control of their emotions, flaws would begin to surface. The more flaws they revealed, the easier they became to deal with.

At least, that was what he expected.

To his surprise, Ye Xiqing showed no sign of losing her composure.

Instead, she calmly pondered something else entirely.

So the housekeeper's surname was Wang as well.

Before she could respond, Father Ye suddenly slammed his fist onto the table.

Bang!

The loud noise startled everyone.

Father Ye glared at his eldest son and shouted, "What did you just say?! A housekeeper is more important than your own sister?!"

The Eldest Young Master Ye froze.

The fury of the true head of the Ye family instantly silenced the room.

Only then did he realize that his father's expression had been unpleasant from the very beginning.

Instinctively, he stepped back.

No matter how arrogant he was, he could not ignore his father's anger.

His tone immediately softened.

"I'm sorry, Dad. That's not what I meant..."

This time, however, Father Ye was not willing to let the matter pass.

He looked genuinely furious.

Leaning forward, he pointed at his son and began scolding him.

"Not what you meant?"

"What do you mean, not what you meant?"

"When I went to bring your sister home, you couldn't be bothered to come back."

"But the moment a housekeeper gets into trouble, you rush home immediately."

"What is he to you?"

"Is he your father? Do his words carry more weight than mine?"

"I fired him. What's wrong with that?"

"That man neglected your sister and embezzled so much money from this family."

"What's wrong with firing him?"

"I never imagined that the successor I chose would turn out to be such a traitor."

"Stupid! Absolutely foolish!"

"A beast who helps outsiders harm his own family!"

"Don't go to work tomorrow."

"Hand over your responsibilities. I'll take over myself."

"I'm not dead yet."

"This family is not yours to control."

"And you!"

Father Ye pointed toward the Second Young Master Ye as well.

"You and your second brother are both beasts."

"Pack your things and get out."

"Neither of you is allowed to set foot in this house again!"

The Eldest Young Master Ye stared blankly.

He had never imagined things would develop in this direction.

"Dad!"

He hurried forward to argue.

But the Second Young Master Ye reached out and stopped him.

Unlike his impulsive older brother, the Second Young Master Ye was far more thoughtful.

As he observed the room, he noticed something strange.

Besides the inexplicably favored Ye Xiqing and the equally inexplicable Father Ye, there was another person behaving oddly.

Ye San.

The young man sat there happily swaying in his seat, clearly trying and failing to suppress a grin while watching the spectacle unfold.

That was extremely unusual.

After all, Ye San was the person responsible for switching the real and fake daughters.

He was also the one who harbored the greatest hostility toward the real sister.

So why was he enjoying this situation so much?

There could only be one explanation.

Something significant had happened during the trip to bring Ye Xiqing home.

It was something Ye San knew.

Something that neither the Eldest Young Master Ye nor the Second Young Master Ye knew.

And until they understood what that was, the more they argued, the more they would anger their father.

The Second Young Master Ye pressed his older brother back into his seat and said respectfully, "I'm sorry, Father. My brother was too impulsive. We never had any ill intentions toward our sister. The housekeeper must have told us some lies and caused us to misunderstand her. We will apologize to Sister. Sister, I'm sorry."

The Second Young Master Ye's measured response did nothing to improve Father Ye's expression. Instead, his face grew even darker.

He knew his two sons too well. Although the Eldest Young Master Ye was reckless and hot-tempered, he was not vicious enough to commit patricide. Such an idea was far more likely to come from the younger one.

And that was exactly why Father Ye was frightened.

The smarter the Second Young Master Ye was, the more terrifying he became.

Father Ye had also realized something important. Not only could he hear his daughter's thoughts, but his two sons could as well.

Ye Xiqing herself had no idea that everyone could hear her inner monologue. She never guarded her thoughts or held back when thinking to herself.

If his two sons heard something they should not hear, the consequences could be disastrous.

Taking advantage of the situation, Father Ye suddenly exploded. He swept the dishes from the table onto the floor and roared furiously, refusing to listen to another word.

"Get out! Get out right now! Throw them out!"

"From now on, no one is allowed to let them into this house. Anyone who does can pack up and leave too!"

The servants exchanged helpless glances.

What else could they do?

They hurriedly escorted the two young masters out of the house.

Sure enough, if you live long enough, you'll encounter all kinds of absurd situations.

Ye Xueli stood frozen in place, unable to believe what she was seeing.

She had thought that with her two older brothers back, she would finally have someone to rely on.

Who could have expected that her support would disappear in the blink of an eye?

Like Ye San, she immediately sat obediently at the end of the table, not even daring to cry anymore.

Only after the Eldest Young Master Ye and the Second Young Master Ye had left did Father Ye finally breathe a sigh of relief.

He had been genuinely afraid that Ye Xiqing might accidentally reveal her true feelings at such a critical moment and expose the secret to his sons.

Fortunately, he had managed to control the situation, and Ye Xiqing had not said anything dangerous.

Thinking about it now, those two had conveniently been absent when he went to bring Ye Xiqing home.

Could it be that heaven was helping him?

Feeling relieved, Father Ye silently thanked the heavens before turning his attention back to his daughter, who was also destined to become a future spoiler.

"Qingqing, don't worry. From now on, you'll be in charge of this family. Those two little beasts won't be able to get back in."

Ye Xiqing looked at him with genuine emotion.

She was not the type to put on a performance, so she decided to reward him with a little praise.

[This really is different from my previous life. Dad actually scolded my brothers for my sake.]

[Now that Dad is taking over the company himself, I don't have to worry about my brothers causing trouble.]

[But around this time, Assistant He, who works for my eldest brother, should be tricking him into signing fake contracts and creating a huge financial loophole for the company.]

[How am I supposed to tell Dad about this without raising suspicion? After all, I shouldn't even know who Assistant He is right now.]

Pfft!

Father Ye nearly sprayed out the water in his mouth.

He had not expected another surprise so soon.

Without wasting a second, he immediately pulled out his phone and spent several moments loudly exclaiming, "Ah! Ah! Ah!"

After putting the phone away, he abruptly put on an angry expression and shouted at Mother Ye.

"Your son... honestly, I don't even want to talk about him anymore. Do you know what's wrong with Assistant He?"

"Forget it. You wouldn't understand anyway. I'm going to the company. You all eat at home."

Mother Ye sat calmly in her seat with her arms folded.

To be honest, she had been caught in the middle from the very beginning.

After all, every one of those children was her own.

But after hearing the latest information, she knew she could no longer continue protecting those two.

So she simply played along.

"Then you'd better go to the company."

And just like that, only three people with absolutely no say in anything remained at the dining table, quietly enjoying their meal.

Meanwhile, the system accompanying Ye Xiqing felt as though it were coughing up blood.

"Host, do you remember the title of this world?"

Ye Xiqing calmly continued eating.

"After My Heart Was Heard, My Whole Family Spoiled Me to the Heavens. What's wrong? Don't you think I'm spoiled enough already?"

The system practically ground its teeth together.

"You've been spoiled to the heavens? Then tell me, where is the whole family? Where is the whole family?!"

"Hehe."

Ye Xiqing could not help laughing.

Wasn't the whole family right here?

Weren't they all acting their parts perfectly?

After receiving the plot from the system, Ye Xiqing realized something.

Whether the fake heiress was the protagonist or the real heiress was the protagonist, one thing never changed.

The ones sitting on the judging panel were always the so-called "family."

If the family favored the fake heiress, then the fake heiress won.

If the family favored the real heiress, then the real heiress won.

Wasn't that a little ridiculous?

They claimed they were going to spoil the real heiress rotten, yet they still made her perform on stage while they sat comfortably in the audience judging her.

Was this spoiling a daughter or training a monkey?

Ye Xiqing had always been good at choosing the best option.

So she decided she wanted to switch places with the family.

After all, what kind of spoiling was it if it didn't make her happy?

If they were truly going to spoil her, then they should be the ones performing on stage.

Watching other people put on a monkey show was far more entertaining than performing in one yourself.

The family had enjoyed themselves long enough.

Now it was her turn to sit on the judges' panel and enjoy the show.
