Chapter 3: Changing Houses (Part 2)

In this day and age, the Beast Tamer civilization had developed to the point where newcomers' pet choices had already been summed up by others.

Little Fat Dove, White Sands Fox, Short-Tailed Snake, Sandstone Mole Rat, Deep Fur Turtle.

These five types of pet beasts were reasonably priced, affordable for most families, and had gentle dispositions.

If properly cultivated, there was absolutely no problem for them to evolve into intermediate pets by the third evolution stage.

Most of the posts by new Beast Tamers asking about pets were about these five types.

The first pet beast her mother contracted was the Little Fat Dove; its evolved form was the Fat Family Dove.

As a flying-type pet beast, its plump body made it slower than other flying types due to its weight.

The reason these were the first choice for new Beast Tamers was that they could evolve into the Strong Flying Owl, a mid-level pet beast.

The White Sands Fox had strong attack power but weak defense; it couldn't last long if it got hit.

The Sandstone Mole Rat was naturally skilled at digging and evasion, and generally avoided head-on confrontations.

Though the Deep Fur Turtle wasn't great in water like regular turtles, it had strong defensive capabilities.

The White Sands Fox, Sandstone Mole Rat, and Deep Fur Turtle were all earth-type pet beasts, so these three pet beasts were often compared.

However, the White Sands Fox crushed the other two in terms of looks, making it the top choice for female newcomers.

The Short-Tailed Snake was a poison-type pet beast, with venomous teeth and a dangerous needle-tail on its back. It had strong combat abilities from an early stage.

However, those who contracted it might end up having to visit the hospital.

Without strong physical qualities, there weren't many new Beast Tamers brave enough to contract it.

Qiao Sang hesitated after reading for a while. She couldn't make a decision. Each of these five types of pet beasts had their drawbacks, but the fact that they were affordable and had safe evolution paths was an undeniable advantage.

In the end, it all came down to money.

Qiao Sang got up and left her room.

Her mother was sitting on the sofa, watching TV.

"Mom, do we have 1 million? I want to buy a Bubbly Bell," Qiao Sang said.

"Get lost."

"Alright!"    read at "https://citrustranslations.blogspot.com/"

Qiao Sang went back to her room and continued browsing the forum.

【Is it safe for a D-level Beast Tamer to go to the Qi Pang Forest?】

【Got a Green Kitten from the second pet gambling! Everyone, come get some good luck!】

...

Apart from buying pet beasts at the pet base, you could also acquire them through various methods like the black market, pet gambling, and the wilderness.

Pet beasts obtained from the black market had unclear origins. As long as you could afford it, they could somehow get you any kind of pet beast you wanted.

Pet gambling depended on luck. If you weren't careful, you could lose all your wealth, and maybe even your pants.

Going to the wilderness to find contract-worthy pet beasts was something typically done by Beast Tamers at least at the level of a D-level Beast Tamer. After all, there was a great likelihood of encountering danger in the wilderness, and ethereal beasts in the wild were difficult to tame. Even if you managed to form a contract with them, they wouldn't be easy to cultivate and train.

None of these three options were feasible for her right now.

Sighing, Qiao Sang realized that even though she had many ideas, her options were indeed limited.

...

8:26 PM.

Qiao Sang closed her computer and was surprised by the time.

Her mother hadn't called her for dinner at this time yet. Was she really angry?

Thinking about heading to the living room, she got up, but then decided to take a book, "Records of Beast Taming II," from the bookshelf.

As she opened the door, she found the living room dark, without any lights on.

Her mother was actually not there.

Qiao Sang pondered for a moment, confirming that her mother wasn't in her bedroom either.

She turned on the living room light, casually tossing "Records of Beast Taming II" onto the sofa, and then grabbed a box of matcha ice cream from the fridge.

Just as she was about to sit down in front of the TV...

The door opened.

Qiao Sang turned her head, locking eyes with her mother.
