Chapter 55: My Journal (2) (Part 1)

[Year of the Ox, Second day of February]

Nineteen days ago, Jia Xiuchun sent three individuals to assassinate me.

Following a bitter confrontation lasting half a day, fields were laid to waste, and houses crumbled.

Despite sustaining a broken right arm and enduring thirty-six wounds, I emerged victorious!

The entrance tunnel collapsed entirely, trapping the valley and complicating any attempts to escape. Fortunately, others are also now unable to enter.

After half a month of recuperation, elixirs have proven effective in healing internal and external injuries, but the challenge lies in setting the broken bone. Whether my self-taught medical skills can facilitate this healing process remains uncertain.

Upon reviewing the battle, the Chaotic Soul Record, ice and fire thorns, talismans, the instantly replenishing spirit wine, perfected peak wind spear technique, self-created Cloud Thunder Burst, wolf-patterned armor, robust physique, acute spiritual perception, and discerning wind and thunder vision—all played crucial roles in my ability to overcome the odds.

In these ten months of seclusion, I've acquired a wealth of knowledge, yet satisfaction eludes me. The sense of imminent crisis persists, and I yearn for greater strength.

The implementation of invoking thunder for body refinement is underway!

The souls of the three individuals were consumed by Little Green, enhancing my spiritual awareness. Their bodies found rest in the field, enriching the soil.

The spiritual wheat and fruits, on the verge of maturing, met an untimely demise. I resorted to plundering the essence of grass and wood to nourish the advancing Ice Armored Beetle King, who shows signs of progressing.

I acquired three ninth-grade horizontal knives, all of the same style, along with an intermediate knife technique named "Mad Wave Swift Knife Technique."

I obtained Twenty-odd mining picks, a number of talismans and elixirs. One among my assailants was a talisman craftsman, and the sand on him is sufficient for my use for another half year.

I also discovered a scroll detailing a mining tunnel map, marking various ore points and potential dens of demonic beasts.

The injuries are no longer hindering me, except for my right arm's immobility. While it remains unusable, I will attempt practicing left-handed spear and sword techniques.

I wonder if I can cast spells with just one hand?

After perusing numerous books, I found traces to follow. In ancient times, the art of casting spells developed to the point where Qi-refining practitioners used one hand for sword techniques and the other for casting spells.

Additionally, some of Xie Jingshan's books related to demon cultivation mentioned that demonic beasts cast spells with their spiritual awareness, without the need for hand gestures.

How to achieve this was not mentioned in the books.

The right arm cannot move, and idle hands are the devil's workshop. I might as well try casting spells with one hand.

...

[Year of the Ox, Twentieth day of May]

The broken bones in the right arm are finally reconnected, with three more months needed for full recovery.

My left-handed brushwork has grown increasingly refined, and when my right arm is healed, I’ll be able to write—and even craft talismans—with both hands. Now that will be a sight to behold

The monthly ritual of invoking thunder for body refinement is becoming addictive. My physique now rivals that of a ninth-grade magical weapon; perhaps, I should increase my sessions to twice a month.

Success in casting spells with one hand seems imminent. The challenge lies in controlling the amplitude and force of stirring the spiritual energy with a single hand. Therefore, the force, amplitude, and speed of finger movements need improvement.

Mortal martial artists use heavy weights for boody refinement. Perhaps, I can try that.

...

[Year of the Ox, Third day of October]

The right arm has finally recovered. I resume sword practice and calligraphy.

Me dangling stones and tendon pulling with the left hand, day after day, resulted in multiple injuries with night-long stabbing pain.

Now, the fingers of the left hand are slightly longer than those of the right hand. A single poke with the index finger can shatter rocks.

Success in casting spells with one hand seems imminent, but practice with the right hand is also necessary.

【Year of the Rabbit, Third day of March】

Successfully cast spells with one hand!

A year of hard work, although accomplished only once, signifies that the effort was not in vain. This method is indeed feasiblw

With perseverance, it will surely become second nature.

There is one more thing i am curious about: if I cast a spell with each hand simultaneously, what will happen when they converge at the completion of the spell? Once proficient, I'll ensure proper protection before attempting.

Reached the peak of the fifth Qi-refining layer, and the spiritual stones are about to be depleted.

The "Blazing Hundred Spears Technique" and "Chaotic Soul Record" still show no breakthroughs, from peak mastery to Grandmaster realm. What is missing?

...

【Year of the Rabbit, Seventeenth day of June】

Today, I broke through to the sixth Qi-refining layer!

They say cultivating in the early and middle stages of Qi-refining is easy, but the later stages are a challenge. In the Tianyan Sect, cultivating to the foundation establishment within ten years is considered genius. I wonder when I can establish my foundation.

Having spent two years here, unexpectedly immersed in this small valley, it doesn't feel tedious; time just seems to pass too quickly.

Two years from the fourth to the sixth Qi-refining layer—is it fast or slow? I wonder about the current cultivation levels of Lu Nanzhi and Xie Jingshan.

Today brings good news. If my grandfather were still alive, he would be delighted.

I've reached the fourth layer in all five techniques of the Spirit Farming Master. If I were in the Tianyan Sect now, I would be recognized as a Spirit Farming Master.

In reality, I can return now. With the Spirit Farming Master token in hand, Jia Xiuchun wouldn't dare to act against me easily.

But I am not satisfied.

Vengeance isn’t everything in my path of cultivation.
